Rocky Mountain Championship

Tournament time is quickly approaching, and we want to ensure everyone has the best possible experience they can. IMA dojo has several highlight events throughout the year and the annual Rocky Mountain Championship is one of them. Having our students participate in this event is not set up to discourage or bring negative feelings regarding skills to anyone. We see the value in performing skills in different environments and want to expand the students’ experience beyond seeing the same dojo for years on end.

We understand there may be hesitations, or inclinations not to attend, and if there is anything we can do to help the process please let one of the lead instructors of your class know. We are committed to supporting our students and giving them the most well rounded experience while being in our program.

The tournament is categorized so the students compete based on skill and age to ensure the most fair play, and we encourage everyone to try. If you have questions on which skill category to place your child, or self, please talk to Sensei Kam.

Finally we will be hosting a training for all volunteers who will be scorekeeping during the tournament, but this time is open to all parents and students who want to learn about rules and how a karate tournament works. There is NO pressure to commit to working the score tables unless you are interested. This will take place this Saturday the 20th from 12:30-2pm at the dojo.
