The competition will be held on May 6, 2012, at Monarch High School in Louisville, Colorado, USA. The purpose of this championship is to bring together all the traditional Karate styles to the Rocky Mountain area and to provide a professional, well organized, memorable, and friendly environment for all the competitors and instructors.

In Addition to the tournament, we will be hosting a referee seminar (with certification) on May 5, 2012. The seminar will be conducted by Fariba Madani a member of the USA Karate Referee Committee and a member of World Karate Federation Referee Commission. The New Rules of kumite competition will be conducted during the seminar and will be applicable at this championship. The presence of many national and international of USA Karate officials is another outstanding value to the championship.

Please visit our Tournament Website (www.rockymountainchampionship.com) for registration forms, referee course information and hotel-related information.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us using our online form or call us at (303) 665-0339.

IMA Dan Testing & Black Belt Extravaganza

On January 28, many of I.M.A. Jr. and Sr. students and black belts (from the Honbu Dojo in Louisville, Colorado and other branches) will get together for another black belt testing experience.

After many years of hard work and dedication to the Shotokan style of traditional Japanese karate, we will be rewarding each one of these dedicated karate-ka in achieving the next level of their progress. The testing will start at 8:30am and will last several hours. The youth and adult classes will not be held on this day.

All I.M.A. members and their families are also invited to join us for a Black Belt Extravaganza in the evening at the Honbu Dojo. The celebration is filled with demonstrations, an award ceremony and I.M.A.’s yearly recognition of several athletes.

Don’t miss this once a year celebration!

Dojo Parking Lot Safety Issues

We’d like all of our dojo members to arrive at class safely and on time. To ensure this happens, please be courteous in the parking lot and observe the following guidelines:

  • If you are stopping by the front door to drop off a student, please pull all the way to the right next to the stairs so other cars may pass you on the left.
  • Stop in front of the door only long enough for your student to get in or out of the car. If you need to help him tie a belt, help her put her hair up, or you need to come into the dojo, please pull into a parking space.
  • If you are waiting in the back parking lot, please use a parking space rather than stopping in the middle of the aisle.

Thank you for helping to resolve the parking lot congestion and safety issues that have been occurring.

IMA Karate Annual Holiday Party Fun

IMA Karate’s Annual Holiday Party was held the evening of our Annual Unity Tournament. The day provides a great opportunity for all IMA parents and students to first bond in a friendly competition at the Dojo and then enjoy each others’ company later in the evening (without having to worry about blocking punches and kicks!)

After enjoying the potluck dinner, speeches, games and a talent show, the Senseis, Sempais, Karate-Ka and parents got together – under the guidance of Keith and Tammy Nakasato – to work off some of the delicious holiday deserts:

Please remember that the Dojo is closed from 12/24 – 1/1.

Happy holidays from everyone at IMA!
