I would like to THANK everyone who read my note last month concerning my airplane experience and for calling, writing and talking to me in person.
Congratulations to my son, Kamran Madani and to Sensei Ruiz’s student, Maya Wasowicz from IMA Goshin-Ryu in New York for an outstanding performance in the World Championship in Spain on November 7th and 8th. Kamran had three hard matches and became 8th in the world from over 80 competitors. Also, I am very proud of Kamran for his leadership, dedication and devotion to the US team members as he was selected in Spain by the US coaches to be the US Team Captain.

Sign up for a few hours or all day. There are volunteer opportunities on Friday night from 8 – 9 pm (13th) to set up and between 6:30 am to 2:30 pm on Saturday (14th). It’s a wonderful way to contribute to our IMA family and to work with everyone as a team.

Teenagers are more than welcome to join in on the fun! Drop off your children and go shopping! Organized games, skits, dancing, free play, movies, stories, snacks, drinks and tons of fun! A Note From Hanshi:
I would like to congratulate Sensei and Senpai McGavin (IMA North Fork) for their outstanding and well organized tournament on October 12th in Grand Junction, Colorado. They had close to 150 competitors and 20 referees.
I would also like to share a story of a recent event in my life. I had been invited by Sensei Philip Kalloo to travel to Trinidad and Tobago to give technical, coaching and referee seminars and to oversee the championship. It was a good experience and I met many high-level referees and competitors. On October 22nd I was on my way back home, flying to Miami on American Airlines flight #2282 when suddenly the cabin started filling up with smoke. There was a fire in the cockpit and one of our engines was leaking oil.
