Good Luck Kamran!

The second phase of USA Karate senior team selection will take place on January 19, 2019 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The top 6 competitors from last national championship will meet again this coming Saturday to claim their spot on the 2019 USA team headed to Pan American championship in Panama City, Panama and any other competition representing USA Karate.

Our own IMA member, Kamran Madani will be among the competitors in -84 kg. He had to forfeit competing at the previous USA karate finals due to his travel to Japan to compete in the World University, at which he won a gold medal. Now he has to defeat 6 other competitors to once again represent USA in the all major competitions for 2019.

For those of you who are interested, we invited you come to the US Olympic Center this Saturday and cheer on all the competitors, and mostly Kamran. There is no charge for admission. This is our home field opportunity and we need to take advantage of it and be as loud as possible!
Good luck Karman!

In addition of his fine performance in Japan, Kamran also represented USA Karate in recent world championship in Madrid, Spain. He defeated his opponent from Taipei and Germany and came short of point with Iran. His Iranian opponent later lost in semi final against Ukraine which took away Kamran chance of fighting for repechange and bronze medal.

He also fought in team Kumite against Jordan and won his match 4-0 but the combination of all other fights did not let US team to move up to the next level.
In addition of being a student Kamran is also having a full schedule of competition ahead of him for 2019. But in the meantime he will be competing in North American Cup this weekend in Mexico. This competition is also a qualification for Pan American Games for next year in Peru. Although the points from this prestigious competition will not accumulate towards ranking, but still it is considered as a continental Olympic Games.
We would like to wish him good luck for this weekend and all other competitions. We are proud of his dedication, accomplishment and thrive towards excellence.

USA was represented by 8 athletes in this high prestige and intense competition. Participants from all over the world competed in their category with restriction of being a college/university student in their country and could not exceed 25 years old age.

Our own Kamran represented USA Karate in -84Kg. He defeated his opponent from Czech Republic, Poland and Kosovo in the elimination to make his way to final match against Australia. In his final match which was live televised by Japan television, he defeated Australia 2-1 and took gold medal home.

We are very proud of his accomplishment and wish him more success on his journey to premier leagues, world championship and Olympic. We hope his recent medal is only a beginning of many more gold medals.
