I would like to congratulate the IMA Goshin-Ryu competition team from New York, under the guidance of chief instructor Ruiz Sensei. 16 athletes participated in the 2013 national championships and US team trials.
The results of the four days of competition are as follows:
- Maya Wasowicz: Gold medalist in +60 kg under 21, representing USA at the Jr. Pan American championships in Colombia, and the Jr. world championships in Spain. She also participated in the senior division in +68 kg and earned a silver medal.
- Manuel Tavarez: Gold medalist in -67 kg, representing USA on the senior team
- Bernard Colonel: Silver medal in +84 kg, representing USA on the senior team
- Luis Ruiz: Silver medal in kumite
- Jake Ruiz: Silver medal in kumite
- James Lopez: Silver medal in kumite and Gold medal in team kumite
- Joseph Rivera: Bronze medal in kumite
- Ian Maher: Silver medal in kumite and Gold medal in team kumite
