The 2012 Rocky Mountain Championship Karate Tournament Was a Great Success

Thank you for everyone’s support of the 16th anniversary of the Rocky Mountain Championship! This year’s tournament was a USA Karate National Qualifier as well as the US Team selection for the World University championships. Over 30 people participated in the Referee Course held on May 5th and almost 350 participants from Venezuela, New York, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Florida, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Texas, Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona and Colorado participated in the tournament on May 6th! Scorekeeping Seminar for 2012 Rocky Mountain Karate Championships

Dear IMA family, At this year’s Rocky Mountain Championship (our annual karate tournament to be held on May 6 at Monarch High School in Louisville, Colorado), we are implementing an electronic scorekeeping system for all competition rings. In order to provide all volunteers with sufficient information to help run the tournament as smoothly as possible, we are encouraging everyone who will be helping with scorekeeping duties to please come to the dojo on Saturday April, 28th at 12:00pm for a short briefing of the new system and to review the new rules related to the kumite portion of the competition. … more »

Rocky Mountain Championship Needs IMA Members Help

The Rocky Mountain Championship is fast approaching and we are excited to have this world class competition in conjunction with the “University Team Trial” selection. It will give everyone an opportunity to watch some of our nation’s elite competitors who will represent the United States in the World University Competition coming up in July 2012. Please join us for the 16th anniversary of the Rocky Mountain International Championship, hosted and sponsored by IMA Karate and sanctioned by USA Karate. The competition will be held on May 6, 2012, at Monarch High School in Louisville, Colorado, USA. The purpose of this championship is to bring together all the traditional Karate styles to the Rocky Mountain area and to provide a professional, well organized, memorable, and friendly environment for all the competitors and instructors. Kamran Madani wins Bronze Medal in the World Karate Competition

Kamran was one of two members of the I.M.A. Dojo Competition Team at the recent championship in Malaysia. He competed in the 14-15 years old male-under-70 Kg. Kumite (sparring) category. The other member of I.M.A. was Michael Ford who unfortunately was eliminated before the medal round. The IMA Team trained all year for this highest level international karate event. All of our athletes performed great, starting first at the nationals level in order to qualify for the US Team.
